Day by day, it had all come together for Dot. The moment she had been waiting for is over, just in time for Christmas.

As Dot’s kitchen gradually came together, she was excited to be involved in the entire Mo’s StoneX process, from the fabrication to the installation of her quartz worktops. Her journey began with a visit to our High Wycombe warehouse, where she was amazed by the variety of quartz slabs available. By the end of her visit, her preference shifted from Calacatta Gold to Lyrica XHD. However, it was the installation day that truly showcased our bold and modern quartz, as she watched our StoneX team both supply and install the quartz worktop in one day. The Forever Home

Originally, Dot hadn’t planned for this to be her forever home. However, after embarking on a heartfelt renovation journey with her dad, the house began to feel truly special—a place she could finally call home. The transformation started with a bold renovation: knocking down a wall in the kitchen to create an open-plan space that seamlessly combined cooking and dining areas.

Dot had always dreamed of a spacious kitchen, complete with a central island where she could gather family and friends, creating a hub for entertaining and connection. Her vision was clear—a kitchen that wasn’t just functional but also a stunning centrepiece of her home.

We were thrilled to help bring her vision to life. The show-stopping design features a sleek island and a perfectly matched splashback, working together to achieve the bold, dramatic, and impactful style Dot had envisioned. The result? A kitchen that’s not only practical for everyday use but also makes a striking statement—exactly what Dot described as “something bold and brilliant. Dot’s choice of quartz kitchen worktops brought that vision to life, adding the perfect blend of style, durability, and elegance to her space.

Tell us about your kitchen project

“When we bought this house, it had a small galley-style kitchen, and I wanted to open it up. So, we knocked down a wall, and I knew I wanted to have space that was big enough for a kitchen island. So luckily, we were able to put that in the design, and I’m absolutely obsessed with it. But as you can tell, there is a kind of showstopper within this kitchen, and that's the quartz worktops.”

What is your favourite part of the kitchen?

“Has to be my 90-centimetre high splashback. I wanted something that was big and bold, and 90cm isn’t your average height. I think it’s usually a little bit less than this, but I wanted to make sure it went all the way to the top, and I absolutely love it. It’s definitely my favourite part of this entire kitchen.”

How has your overall experience been so far with Mo’s StoneX?

“Our experience with Mo’s StoneX has been brilliant. We first went to their warehouse and you don’t have to have an appointment. You can just walk in and that’s what we did. We went and saw all the slabs and once you’ve decided, you can order your worktop. The guys came around and did the templating and they were so quick and skilled, it was impressive. You then get your worktop under 10 days which is a crazy turnaround. The next thing you know, the guys are coming back again to install my kitchen worktop! So precise and fast and their attention to detail is second to none.

We’re down in Dorset, quite far away from their Watford and High Wycombe showroom but they are still able to come down with no problem at all.

I’m so impressed.”

One Truthful Advice for Others

We asked Dot for her honest opinion about the reality of renovating a kitchen from scratch by yourself for those planning on renovating the kitchen themselves.

“Your worktop can never look too busy. A quartz worktop can completely make your kitchen, and I don’t think you’re going to regret something as brilliant and exciting and dramatic as a worktop like this.”
