Colour, Contrast, and Confidence: The Kubik Kitchen

For Kelly Kubik, the vision for her kitchen was clear from the beginning. She wanted something distinctive, colourful, and full of personality, without sacrificing practicality or everyday usability. The challenge was finding the right balance between bold design choices and a space that would remain welcoming and comfortable to live in.

At the heart of the project sits the Iron Ore engineered stone by ELORĀ, one of the darker materials in the collection. Rich in tone and commanding in presence, it has the ability to transform a space when paired with the right surrounding elements. Used without careful consideration, a dark surface can easily dominate a room. The success of this project came from ensuring the stone worked in harmony with the wider design rather than overpowering it.

The deep turquoise cabinetry provided the perfect partner. Together, the colours create contrast and character, allowing each element to enhance the other. The result is a kitchen that feels confident and distinctive while remaining balanced and inviting.

For the Mo's StoneX team, the focus was on delivering clean, precise stonework that allowed the material to perform at its best. Every cut, edge, and installation detail was carefully executed to ensure the finished surfaces felt seamless and refined. The simplicity of the design places even greater importance on the quality of the fabrication, where precision becomes the difference between a good result and an exceptional one.

That practicality has certainly been tested. Even Fenton, Kelly's curious and much-loved cat, has claimed the worktop as his favourite spot. Whether supervising from the island or stretching out across the surface, he serves as a daily reminder that beautiful kitchens still need to function as real living spaces.
