Designed Around the Way a Family Lives

Calacatta Gold and rounded edges for a busy family home

For Luke and Laura Scullion, this project was about creating a kitchen that could keep pace with a busy family home. With four children and a constant flow of daily activity, the space needed to be practical, durable, and safe, while still delivering the sense of quality and refinement they had envisioned.

Luke, a builder by trade, approached the project with a clear understanding of construction and craftsmanship. Every detail needed to serve a purpose. The kitchen had to work hard for the family, but it also needed to feel considered, welcoming, and built to last.

Working closely with the family, the Mo's StoneX team helped bring that vision to life through the careful fabrication and installation of Calacatta Gold engineered stone from ELORĀ. The stone introduces character through its soft veining while maintaining the calm and balanced appearance the family wanted for the space.

At the centre of the kitchen sits a generous island that naturally becomes the focal point of the room. Beyond its size and visual presence, the island presented an opportunity to address one of the family's key priorities: safety. With young children moving around the home every day, sharp corners were never going to be the right solution.

To meet the brief, the Mo's StoneX fabrication team carefully crafted rounded edges throughout the island, softening the profile without compromising the overall design. The result feels elegant and intentional rather than purely functional. It is one of those details that many people may not immediately notice, but one that makes a significant difference to how the space is experienced every day.

Projects like this demonstrate that great fabrication is not simply about cutting and installing stone. It is about understanding how a client intends to use a space and translating those requirements into practical solutions. Every profile, every edge, and every detail must contribute to the final result.

For the Scullion family, the outcome is a kitchen that balances beauty with practicality. Carefully crafted, family-focused, and built around the way they live, it is a space designed to be enjoyed for years to come.
