Designed for the Spotlight: Remi’s Kitchen

For Remi Idowu, the kitchen plays an important role in both her personal and professional life. As a food creator, entrepreneur, and a Forbes 30 Under 30 honouree with an audience of almost 850,000 followers on Instagram, the space needed to work far beyond the demands of everyday cooking. It had to be functional, welcoming, and visually striking from every camera angle.

The centrepiece of the project is Calacatta Viola engineered stone, chosen for its dramatic burgundy veining and unmistakable character. Remi wanted a surface that would stand out naturally within photographs and video content while complementing the warm, inviting atmosphere she envisioned for the space. Calacatta Viola delivered exactly that balance.

For the Mo's StoneX team, the objective was to ensure the material could perform as both a practical work surface and a design feature. The stone extends across the worktops and splashbacks, creating a strong visual presence throughout the kitchen while providing the durability required for everyday use.

One of the most successful aspects of the project is the way the surrounding design supports the stone. Warm cabinetry introduces depth and softness, while the black and white flooring adds rhythm and contrast. Together, these elements create a setting that allows the movement of the Viola veining to become a focal point without overwhelming the room.

Projects like this require careful attention to proportion and detail. A kitchen that regularly appears on camera needs to look considered from every angle, with materials, finishes, and installation quality working together to create a cohesive result. The stone was sourced from About Stone's ELORĀ collection, while every element of the stonework was fabricated and installed by the Mo's StoneX team.

What makes this kitchen unique is the role it plays in Remi's life.
