Bringing Bold Choices Together: The Sharmin Kitchen

For Suraiya Sharmin, the vision for her kitchen was clear from the beginning. This was never going to be a space that blended quietly into the background. Every decision, from the cabinetry colour to the lighting and stone selection, was made with confidence. The challenge was bringing all of those bold elements together in a way that felt balanced, cohesive, and practical for everyday family life.

At the centre of the project sits the Palermo engineered stone from ELORĀ, a material chosen for its depth, movement, and unmistakable presence. Paired with deep green cabinetry, the stone immediately establishes the character of the room. The combination is rich and dramatic, yet carefully controlled, allowing each element to complement the other rather than compete for attention.

The island forms the focal point of the kitchen. Designed with an overhang and seating area, it creates a space where the family can gather throughout the day. For Mo's StoneX, this was also an opportunity to introduce one of the project's most distinctive details: a beautifully crafted Ogee edge profile.

Unlike a simple square edge, the Ogee profile introduces softness, depth, and a sense of craftsmanship that transforms the appearance of the stone. It is a subtle detail, but one that elevates the entire island, giving it a more bespoke and furniture-like quality.

Across the rest of the kitchen, Palermo continues into full-height splashbacks, allowing the material to become a defining architectural feature within the room. The uninterrupted stone surfaces showcase the movement of the veining while creating a strong visual connection between the various elements of the design. Despite the number of standout features, the space never feels overwhelming because each element has been carefully considered as part of a larger composition.

Projects like this require more than technical precision alone. They require an understanding of proportion, balance, and how individual details contribute to the overall experience of a room. From the fabrication of the Ogee profile to the installation of the splashbacks and island, every element was crafted and installed by the Mo's StoneX team to ensure the final result matched the ambition of the original vision.

The result is a kitchen that feels confident, distinctive, and full of personality. A space that embraces bold design choices while remaining practical for everyday family life, brought together through careful craftsmanship and attention to detail.
